There are a lot of copy projects you can DIY, but your website copy is not always one of them.
Ellen came to me because she’s rewritten her website copy so many times she lost count. But at some point, the constant tweaking wasn’t cutting it anymore. She knew her messaging needed a realignment, and she knew she did not want to be the one to do it.
She reached out for an Editing Sprint, telling me:
“I’ve written so many iterations of my website copy, I don’t want to do it anymore. I’ve made enough shifts and pivots recently (and have more planned for this year) that it’s time for another level set. TBH, I don’t wanna be the one to write it.”
We didn’t have to start from scratch because her copy was solid, but it wasn’t totally aligned. The way she spoke about her business was different, including what part of the customer journey her clients were at. Where she was previously speaking to entrepreneurs who already wrote their nonfiction book, she was now speaking to people who were still in the idea phase so she could work with them through the entire process from start to finish.
She hired me because she knew what she wanted, but being so close to her own work made it hard to see the gaps, the inconsistencies, or where her copy needed a little extra spice. That’s where she needed an outside perspective.
Before 👉 After
I went deep into her brand bible and discussed on a 60-minute call:
– How she actually talks about her business now, not just how she talked about it three years ago when she last wrote her site.
– What she wanted her website to communicate moving forward
– What sections she liked / didn’t like / wanted changed so she got exactly what she was looking for.
From there, I reshaped, refined, and aligned her website copy to sound like her, but clearer, more compelling, and more strategic.
After getting the updated copy, she sent this:
“This looks FANTASTIC, thank you!! I so appreciate all the work you did, and after working through these pages and updating the copy on my site, I’m so happy with how everything turned out. This is wayyy more aligned with how I’m currently speaking about my business, clients, and services.”
Now, she has a website that:
Her words? “10/10. Chef’s kiss.”
She’d worked with a copywriter before and knew the value of professional copy. But this time, she needed someone who could truly nail her voice and personality while weaving in the right sales psychology and messaging strategy.
“I’ve been connected with Becca on Instagram for years and knew she was the one I wanted to work with for this realignment. We have a very similar style, and I knew she’d be able to take the bones of my existing copy and revamp things to meet my current standards to communicate exactly what I wanted to say.”
When asked what she’d say to someone considering working with me, her answer was clear:
“If you just want someone to fill your website with words, you can hire pretty much any copywriter. If you want someone to take the time to understand your clients, the problem you’re solving, the services you deliver, your ethos, your vision for your business, the language you use (and don’t use), your personality, and the experience you want people to have on your site — AND you want them to bring all the sales psychology and copywriting strategies that make website copy attract the right people and convert them into clients — you need to hire Becca.”🔥 That’s the kind of copy that makes your people stop, read, and take action.
